Wedding Trends - Photo Slideshows at the Reception

While the practice of showing slides during a wedding reception has been going on for many years, these photos were limited to photos from the couples childhood and perhaps while they were dating. Recently, with advances and digital photography and the availability of larger LCD screens, there has been a new trend - displaying photos from the wedding and reception as the reception is happening!

Since the wedding photographer usually took the couple's engagement photos, this is usually where the slideshow begins. Then you and your guests get to see photos from the ceremony itself, the portrait session, and then the reception itself. Talk about instant gratification!

Depending on your personal taste, the photos can be displayed in an area off to the side from the main action so that it does not draw away from the first dance, toasts, etc. - or the photos can be prominently shown off using a projector. Photos can be shown during the cocktail hour or start along with the reception. This service will require a designated "producer" who edits and arranges the photos as they come in from the photographer(s) shooting the event.

Your photos become part of the actual wedding day experience. Instead of waiting weeks or months to see those unseen moments, you get to see them hours after they happen (or less).

Ask your photographer whether they offer this service. If you would like to talk to me about this topic or ask any questions, feel free to contact me or visit my website at www.fatchett.com/weddings
